'I cried throughout my pregnancy' — Bimpe Akintunde opens up on failed marriage

Nollywood actress Bimpe Akintunde has opened up about the collapse of her marriage, revealing that the relationship began to fall apart while she was pregnant with their second child.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Yoruba, the actress disclosed that she started experiencing marital problems less than three months into her pregnancy.

According to Bimpe, her husband constantly complained about her condition during the early stages of the pregnancy, making an already difficult period even more painful.

"I cried when I was carrying my second pregnancy. God gave me my second daughter as a gift because it wasn't up to three months of being pregnant that I started experiencing issues in my marriage. He was always questioning if I was the first woman to get pregnant," she said.

The actress also shared her views on polygamy, stating that she sees nothing wrong with being a first, second, third or fourth wife if the relationship is built on mutual understanding.

Offering advice to intending couples, Bimpe urged them not to rush into marriage but to spend enough time getting to know each other's character and behaviour before tying the knot.

"If you ever meet someone and he says he wants to marry you quickly, make sure you spend time with him, even if it's just three months, to study his character and behaviour," she advised.

Bimpe had earlier confirmed that her marriage had ended, revealing that the relationship took a different turn before the birth of her second child.

Despite the heartbreak, she said the experience taught her valuable lessons and helped her grow stronger.

According to the actress, she quietly rebuilt her life after the failed marriage and is now focused on moving forward.
